Custom BJJ Gi by Alpha Catto that every grappler needs

Custom BJJ Gi by Alpha Catto that every grappler needs

The Future of BJJ is Handmade in Belgrade. This is Cattogi

It started with a problem. A month into my BJJ journey, wrestling in my sad, dysfunctional uniforms, I realized I was wearing a punishment, not equipment. Instead of complaining, I decided to build something better.

The first prototype, stitched by my fashion seamstress, was a confused lab coat with an identity crisis. Very couture, very useless. Then, I discovered military-grade ripstop.

I befriended suppliers who usually equip police and army forces, and somehow, they adopted me as their tiny pet project. So did the sewing workshop. Honestly, I’m everyone’s pet project, but we move.

I posted a few photos on Instagram for fun, and people started losing their minds. That’s when I knew this wasn’t just for me anymore. As a dramaturge, I couldn’t just create a brand; I had to create a character.

Inspired by a tiny, pregnant street cat who acted like a boss to survive, Alpha Catto was born. She’s a comic-book antihero, an intergalactic ruler, and she’s just getting started. For now, she’s busy making gis that don’t make you tap just from wearing them.

Two Sides. Two Moods. One Fight

Every Alpha Catto gi is fully reversible, because you have more than one side. There’s the outside you show the world: a brutal, military minimalism that is controlled, precise, and disciplined.

Then there’s the inside that burns: wild, authentic African wax prints from Kenya and West Africa that scream with hidden symbols and secret confidence.

Wear whichever side matches the chaos in your heart today. This isn’t just gear. It’s a transformation ritual.

Lighter. Faster. Ethical. Original. This is armor for people who refuse to blend in.

The Ultimate Guide to Cattogi

What makes Cattogi different from every other BJJ gi?

There are gis. Then there is Cattogi. Those factory-clone gis are uniforms. Cattogi is armor. Stylish, reversible, beautifully dangerous armor, sewn by real humans in Belgrade who put soul into every stitch. No mass-production zombies here.

Why ripstop for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu? What’s the real advantage?

Cattogi uses a military-grade ripstop blend of cotton and polyester. It’s built to be pulled, dragged, choked, and still come back for more. This gives you a gi that is:

  • Lightweight & Breathable: It keeps you moving, not dragging.
  • Tear-Resistant: Sourced from the same suppliers who equip police and army forces.
  • Fast-Drying: Less time waiting, more time training.
  • Less Prone to Bacterial Growth: Traditional heavy cotton gis soak up sweat and stay wet forever. Ripstop stays clean.

How does the fit improve my training experience?

It feels like a gi built for athletes, not sacks of potatoes. Cattogi features a modern slim fit that follows the body without restricting it.

  • Deep pants with a hidden elastic waistband.
  • Women’s tailored shaping with darts.
  • No EVA foam in the quick-drying layered collar construction.

Does Cattogi really dry almost instantly?

Yes. Machine wash at 30°C, shake it out, and it’s nearly dry already. It’s perfect for high-frequency drilling and daily training life.

Whether you’re doing solo drills for mat endurance or extended rolling sessions, a fast-drying gi keeps you ready.

Is Cattogi ethically made? What does slow fashion look like in BJJ?

Cattogi is created by Iva, designer, grappler, and the mind behind the brand, together with a small workshop in the center of Belgrade, Serbia.

  • Micro batches of six gis at a time.
  • Skilled experts paid fairly.
  • Local production with no excess inventory and no exploitation.

Slow fashion is our stance. BJJ gear deserves ethics too.

Can I machine wash and tumble dry my Cattogi?

Yes. Machine wash at 30°C. No spells, no sacrifices. Tumble drying is also approved. No shrinking, no drama. It comes out almost ready to roll.

What if my body is… unconventional?

BJJ bodies are built, not born. Jacket A2 with A1 pants? Thick shoulders, ballerina legs? No problem.

Mix and match sizes for a fit that actually respects your biomechanics. We also offer custom alterations to shorten sleeves or pant legs. If your limbs reject the sizing chart, we adapt.
